SNS: Student Night Sonder

Every day is a trip, but how exactly does it feel like, as students that go a long way with different thoughts —  bringing themselves back and forth with various transportation?

9:00 p.m.: The wind is breezing up my thin skin. I am listening to my favorite OPM song in a little wired earphone, sitting in a narrow-spaced jeepney, holding the metal above firmly. The quietness of the jeep in the night has tranquility for some reason. A peace that comes with the realization that mostly at 9 p.m., students are tired and want to go home immediately.

9:15 p.m.: Half the student passengers are sleeping, and half are awake. Most of them are stunned. Most of them are active. The only noise I hear is the wind and the talks of the students about their activity a while back through their daily survival up to the extent of what keeps them kicking in their chosen program.

9:30 p.m.: The driver decided to take off the light. The moment begins to take effect. The rants inside my head are booming—a student with H and W’s in their activities in school. The trouble and worry may think ahead, but the body is still inert, even in the fast phase movement of the jeepney.

9:45 p.m.: Everyone is leaving. Reality is arriving. How resilient are we, students? Even the travel of the jeep might be more extended and tiring. Even our faces show how tired we are. We keep thriving and striving harder as there is a tomorrow, and there will always be a tomorrow.

10:00 p.m.: I wondered if I had encountered Sonder when I came home. The realization that every passerby lives a life as vivid and complex as yours.

Like traveling in jeepneys, we realized we have different thoughts but are only on the same trip. We are strangers, but at some point, as a student, we have the same sentimental experience of what the school reality is. As jeepney passes, we must long live together as student night sonder will be sounder when the morning comes by.
