The Holy Angel University-School of Business and Accountancy (HAU-SBA) conducted its annual Bigay Puso Outreach Program 2024 at Angeles City Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Camp 174 last March 15.

Dr. Alma V. Yutuc and Prof. Shaila S. Marcelo led the event as the community outreach coordinators — targeting the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) of BJMP.

The program started with a holy mass presided over by the University Chaplain Fr. Mark Anthony Torrecarion. Alongside with the program proper, Jail Superintendent Manolet L. Datan and SBA Dean Dr. Albert G. Morales acknowledged everyone’s presence with their welcoming and opening remarks, respectively.

During the arrangement, the College of Student Council-SBA (CSC-SBA), Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants and Auditors (JPIAA-U), Management Society (ManSoc), and The Enterprise initiated games to entertain the PDLs. Thereupon, PDLs performed their prepared dance and song intermission numbers to celebrate the outreach program.

According to CSC-SBA Chairperson Bianca Raguindin, the primary objective this year was to give 100 sacks of rice, of which 85 came from the cash donations of the block sections of SBA.

Ensuring an equal distribution of rice cavan in line with the cells’ capacities, Jail Inspector Celina M. Guintu assisted the faculty coordinators.

ManSoc initiated this program for two decades and counting since A.Y. 1998-1999 by providing material assistance, activities, equipment donations, reformation and livelihood training, and spiritual formation.
