HAU hypes up freshies, kick off Angelite’s Walk, Freshmen Orientation, Org Fest

The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) with the Holy Angel University – University Student Council (HAU-USC) led the Angelite’s Walk, Freshmen Orientation and Organization Fest, at the Immaculate Heart Gymnasium (IHG) yesterday, July 14.

The School of Business and Accountancy (SBA) celebrated the events simultaneously with the School of Education (SED), School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM), and School of Computing (SOC), during the second batch of the day, from 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm.

To hype the event, the student leaders from different institutions of the colleges, with the freshmen, celebrated the Angelite’s Walk with the various chants.

Mr. Leopoldo Jaime Valdes, OIC-President, delivered the opening remarks after the parade of colors. Concurrently, the respective deans, coordinators, and the OSA officers graced and extended their warm messages in welcoming the first-year students.

The orientation started with an opening salvo, performed by the chosen representatives of each department’s student institution. Shortly after, the HAU Chorale, Rondalla, and Dance Theatre showcased their talents through a performance for the attendees.

During the program proper, the university presented various audio-visual presentations (AVP) showing the general guidelines and policies of the university, the different offices, grading systems, scholarships, and tutorials on how to access the learning management system (LMS) used.

Salma Emam, a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) freshman, voiced her expectation in the middle of the orientation for the upcoming academic year, “Since I came from [HAU] [in] senior high school, there [were] not many events compared to college, so I’m looking forward to attending more of the events that we have in SBA.”

Following the event sequence, the event’s host introduced each department’s College Student Council (CSC) officers for the academic year 2023-2024.

Afterward, the CSC-SBA guided the first-year students to SBA’s Organization Festival on the Ground Floor of the Peter G. Nepomuceno (PGN) building. The organizations prepared booths to welcome the freshies, which include the College Student Council-SBA (CSC-SBA), Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants and Auditors United (JPIAA-U), Management Society (ManSoc), and the student publication of SBA, The Enterprise.

The Angelite, Juris Orbis, Council of Student Ambassadors, and other uniwide institutions are also present during the said period.
