A Magical Place

Once upon a time, I always traveled with my family domestically and internationally. They are my fantastic travel buddies that open our eyes to different cultures, people, food, and more. My lovely parents always tell us that we travel to widen our visions to dream high as much as possible.

Nevertheless, allow me to share my core memory that will always be in my heart and mind. It is my favorite day. I will forever cherish it since it heals my inner child.

In 2017, I had a great time that made my heart smile, eyes shine, and body enjoy. As you read, please open your imagination. Let’s go; I will take you to Hong Kong Disneyland with my family.

According to Walt Disney, “It is you who will make Disneyland a truly magical kingdom.” My father told me this quote, and I started thinking. However, with this, I am expecting a great day. When we arrived, I was shocked. The theme park is breathtakingly big and extraordinary. I felt like it drove me back from my colorful and magical childhood. I never felt that kind of happiness, which possibly that gigantic, gorgeous, and fascinating place brought to me. My family made my stay there more memorable.

We chose to travel by Mass Transit Railway (MTR), and we were able to board this adorable train. Aside from the windows, the handlebars are like Mickey’s head. The carriages also contain glass capsules containing bronze sculptures of Disney characters. We entered Hong Kong Disneyland after a long journey. However, I felt a different excitement, as if it transported me to fantasy land – the world’s happiest place. It felt like I was a kid again, bringing me happiness. This area is bustling with shops and restaurants and is a fun place.

Through our walks, we stopped at a souvenir shop and bought presents for our relatives; the pastel colors of the roofs, the labels with rustic paint in the windows, and the calligraphic fonts used on the signs are all works of art. The baby pink and blue colors, the deep red awning, and the sizable delicious bread displayed at the store entrance we went to all appealed to me. I smile and think, “This is a dream come true.” After that, we lined in from a massive queue to ride the Iron Man Experience.

Further, I continued to enjoy myself because my family was with me. The Iron Man Experience was my favorite, even if I ran out of voice because I was shouting the whole time. As Iron Man battles various giant, menacing robots, we all feel flying above the Hong Kong skyline. It was a very realistic 4D experience, as we all felt. It wasn’t frightening but spectacular, as we told each other that time. It was nighttime when we arrived. We were 15 minutes early to ensure a good viewing spot along Main Street, USA (Alley).

The Flights of Fantasy Parade is one of Hong Kong Disneyland’s most popular attractions. The parade features colorful floats and various Disney characters, including Mickey and his friends, Dumbo, Snow White, and others. It felt like I was in one of the movies I watched on our television since I was a kid. We walked up to the castle’s front and watched the colorful fireworks. I cried because I had only seen that before on the internet. It was a magical day for me, thanks to my family. After that, we laughed loudly on returning to the hotel and discussed our day at MTR.

Looking back on that experience, I am thankful that my parents made traveling a must for us. Since I realized that it offers us the opportunity to escape from the realities and our comfort zones, it inspires us to explore the best version of ourselves.
