2-peat: SBA triumphs as Matenakan 2023 Overall Champion

The School of Business and Accountancy (SBA) prevailed as back-to-back overall champion during the Matenakan 2023, awarded today, September 14, at the Immaculate Heart (IH) Gymnasium.

In line with the Youth Development and Advocates celebration, the Holy Angel University – University Student Council (HAU-USC) initiated this in-person event after three years with the theme: “Matenakan: Pamanuli King Indung Sisuan.”

Opposing the other Schools and Colleges, the SBA community dominated the five categories of the event, namely: GULIS: Alaya ning Obrang Kapampangan (Poster Making Competition), SIGLA: Casampatan ning Musika (Singing Competition), KORO: Culala Da Ring Siuala (Speech Choir), INDAC: Misasanmetung keng Pamaglayag King Kulturang Kapampangan (Cultural Dance), and AMLAT: Pamagbalik para king Masalang Pintulunga (Short Film).

The SBA students clinched various placements in their respective categories, which included Aira Tansiangco and Caila Tayag as first placers in SIGLA. Simultaneously, Regina Atrasado, Princess Trixie Supan, Monalet Diane Nicdao, Maxene Valerie Mandap, Aisen Salunga, Jerico Dungca, Ronnel Pineda, Angel Joy Subalisid, Trisha Camille Montemayor, Leicel Cudia, and Vincent Angeles also bagged the golden place in KORO.

Moreover, Jayson Calatayud and Noel Pantig Jr. landed as second placers on GULIS and earned the People’s Choice Award.

Concurrently, Lliyah Grainne Arreola, Dinnier Gomez, Mikaela Rose C. Maniulit, Charisse G. Rojas, Karylle De Luna, Unica Jill Begino, Kathrina Marie Valiente, Prince Maximus Nuyda, Andrea Asban, Eunice Bobsin secured the third place in INDAC.

Adrian Santos, Ailyn Santos, Rose Valencia, Myca Manoebog, Tristan Soto, Kris Espinosa, Blessy Galang, Alyanna Bautista, Maxene Mandap, Lean Lansangan, Aisen Salenga, and Alfred Guillermo were among the participants who competed in the AMLAT.

Meanwhile, College Student Council – SBA (CSC-SBA) Chairperson Bianca Angeline Raguindin expressed her gratitude for winning the top spot, “Dolphins, this win is for all of you! We are grateful for the opportunity to represent our community and showcase the excellence that the SBA students can give.”

“We will continue to uphold the legacy [of] our department. We’re proud to bring this win back to our community,” Raguindin concluded.

For this year’s MATENAKAN competition results, the HAU-USC also awarded the School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA) as they landed 2nd place on the overall placement, followed by the Basic Education Department (BED), which emerged as the 3rd placer.
