SBA Prof earns 2023 PICPA Outstanding CPA in Education

Dr. Arnold V. Salcedo, a Holy Angel University – School of Business and Accountancy (HAU-SBA) faculty, received recognition in the 2023 Outstanding Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Education given by the Philippine Institute of Public Accountants (PICPA) on November 6 via email.

“This [award] is one in a hundred thousand, and it came [as] unexpected. Being nominated from the Chapter level to me is already an achievement, but being conferred with the National Award until now is very overwhelming and humbling at the same time,” Dr. Salcedo expressed when asked about his initial reaction after knowing about the recognition.

Moreover, the SBA Professor also highlighted that this award gave him a more profound view of his role as an educator in the academic community since PICPA is known to be a nationally accredited professional organization of CPAs in the country.

“This is just the beginning of something new, and it further inspires me to do my best since I still have twenty or more years to teach,” Dr. Salcedo added.

The PICPA Board of Directors approved the Committee’s recommendation of Dr. Salcedo and deliberated the evaluation of the conferment.

The due process starts with a nomination—which currently commences in the local chapter, endorsing a possible nominee to the region. Then, the qualified nominee will enter a scheduled deliberation and selection process with the National Awards Committee and is required to submit a bid book that summarizes all the candidates’ achievements.

The National Committee on Award annually recognizes professional accountants who have shown excellence in their respective fields of expertise, embarking on the achievements of its members, integrity, and contribution to PICPA and the overall profession.

The 78th PICPA Annual National Convention (PICPA ANC) Awards Night will honor the awardees of different categories on November 23 at the Sorsogon City Convention Center.
