Letting Out Emotions is Okay

It is not a weakness, but rather a strength — strength in a way that you are capable of showing vulnerability without caring about how you will be perceived by others.

At this point in time when people in different locations are being secluded in their respective houses, it will be easy and quick to experience personal problems, unusual feelings, and irregular patterns of emotions. Despite that, we know how to show that we are well and everything is just fine.

That is why I can say that we are all good actors and actresses — proven and witnessed. We know exactly when to hide our feelings in public and in situations where we must not be shaken by our weaknesses. Our bright smiles are probably the best weapon we have to coat our inner self that is drowning severely in sadness and too scared to leave its own cave.

But…

Let us not restrain ourselves from feeling sad — from expressing ourselves utterly. There is nothing to be ashamed of. It just means that we are human and humans feel different emotions. Those emotions are something that we cannot hide forever and are also something precious to us because we know the value of tears we allow to burst out every single time. It frees us once we acknowledge the power of emotions. It takes us away from anxiety and prevents us from slipping into depression.

Allow me to remind you once again of the famous quotation from John Donne, “No man is an island. No man stands alone.” It simply implies that sometimes you can have someone to rely on — someone who is always ready to embrace your darkness without any questions asked. And now is also the time to change the view of other people who say that crying is a sign of weakness. It is not a weakness, but rather a strength — strength in a way that you are capable of showing vulnerability without caring about how you will be perceived by others.

It is okay to feel that you are sad and to cry out loud in front of everyone. It is better than pretending to be happy outside, even when it hurts so much inside. Our feelings are our feelings. Our emotions are our emotions. No matter how much we try to control and keep them from letting out, still, in the end, they will reach their highest peak. Having tough times and bad days is normal in life and the same goes for our emotions. If you don’t give a go signal to express how you feel starting today, it could lead to some serious health-related problems in the future that you will definitely regret. So let yourself be and never listen to what other people say. Maybe others will take it as being immature, but those who understand will let you be.
