Valiant Esports Club bags 2020 AcadArena Awards

AcadArena, an alliance organization that purposely aims to unify student gamers, launched an awarding ceremony dedicated to celebrating Philippine campus gaming and lifting eSports among schools across the country last February 14.

Ministry for Esports and Gaming under League of Students for Excellence of Holy Angel University – Valiant Esports Club is affiliated with the latter and has won a total of seven awards, including one major award— the Family Good Game Grant Gold & Silver, School Spirit Award Autumn 2020, School Spirit Award Summer 2020, Overall Champion Autumn 2020, Student Leader of the Year, and the Overall Best Alliance Org of the Year.

In an interview, Jan Robert Alvarez, President of Valiant Esports Club, stated, “Even until now, it is hard to realize that we really won most of the AcadArena Award[s]… knowing that there are also big esports organizations that deserve to win as well.”

Aside from recognition, AcadArena also provides scholarships and grants among its recipients. Carlo Gio Sibal, a second-year student under the School of Business and Accountancy (SBA) and Head Manager of VEC, is one of the awardees who have won the “Family Good Game Grant Gold” award.

In the statement of Mr. Sibal, he said, “Sobrang gulat na gulat talaga ako… ako pala yung Gold awardee sa Family Good Game Grant Award and sobrang thankful ako kay Lord sa binigay niyang blessing…”

Sibal has been a member of the Valiant Esports Club since the entry of the gaming organization in the school.

He started his eSports career when he was a kid with the influence of his friends and continued to play and started competing in several tournaments across Pampanga since then.

He believes that discipline is one of the most significant characteristics to achieve success in the field of eSports. “Always give your best in what you do and always be reminded na attitude and discipline yung 2 main factors na kailangan nating isaloob sa ating sarili,” he added.

Sibal is eyeing to engage in a much bigger eSports event this 2021 while pursuing his dream to become a business owner and be a Certified Public Accountant in the making.
