SBA Days Press Conference 2022: House of Diamonds raised the torch as the overall champion

The Enterprise, in partnership with the College Student Council of the School of Business and Accountancy (CSC-SBA), successfully concluded the 2022 Press Conference on SBA Days with the theme of “Fourth Estate’s Remains: Enlightening the Masses by Diminishing Obscurity for Reliable Journalism” at PGN Building Case Room #310, on October 21. 

The main objective of the event is to advance the development of the dolphins in pursuing a fair deal for all. Hence, the Press Conference featured five main categories: News Writing, Feature Writing, Editorial Writing, Short Story Writing, and Spoken Word Poetry. 

John Keneth Mallari, the Editor-in-Chief of the publication, stated in his opening remarks the essence of being a journalist.

“Our theme sheds light on those who continue to be respectable journalists. And to those who may have doubted their worth or purpose to deliver the truth but never stopped practicing responsible journalism, this event recognizes all real journalists who remain in the field, and that makes us part of the remains of the fourth estate,” he added.

The publication with the hosts revealed the winners in each category and placement during the awarding ceremony on October 27.

The House of Diamonds commanded the News Writing Category as Nheidine Lee N. Caliwag and Jerico P. Dungca received the 1st and 2nd places. Angela Ysabelle A. Mendoza, from The House of Clubs, claimed the 3rd spot.

For the Feature Writing category, Cariza Francine O. Flores from The House of Clubs, Nikkson C. Cayanan from The House of Diamonds, and Zia Karyll D. Sumang from The House of Spades clinched 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place, respectively.

Meanwhile, Ann Krizelle Y. Miclat from The House of Clubs landed the 1st spot for the Editorial Writing category. Following her are Excel John B. Esguerra from The House of Diamonds as the 2nd placer, and Princess Hannah Mae L. Adaya from The House of Spades securing the 3rd place.

For the Short Story Writing category, the House of Diamonds claimed the 1st and 3rd places with Rose Ann D. Dela Resma and Cleo Maurish T. Enriquez, accordingly, and Sheila May L. Soliman from The House of Clubs sealed the 2nd place.

Further, for the Spoken Word Poetry category, Nheidine Lee N. Caliwag from The House of Diamonds gained the highest point, making her the golden placer, April B. Arceo from The House of Clubs received the 2nd place, and Courtney Nicole F. Custodio from The House of Spades bagged the 3rd place.

With the overall scores garnered with the five categories, the House of Diamonds dominated the event and claimed the golden torch.

The House of Clubs landed 2nd place on the overall placement, followed by The House of Spades, which emerged as the 3rd placer.
