Excelsior prevails as the batch name of BSA Class 2023

Batch officials of the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) Class of 2023 revealed “Excelsior” as the batch name for the graduating BSA students in this Academic Year 2022–2023, last Saturday, December 24, 2022.

Excelsior means “ever upward,” which flaunts greatness and excellence despite the challenges. It also exuded the graduating students’ strength in continuously manifesting their uniqueness in fostering a sense of community, camaraderie, and teamwork among batch members. John Keneth Mallari, who is also the Editor-in-Chief of The Enterprise, the official publication of SBA, proposed the said designation.

Gold and black accents were also revealed as the color and imagery in this year’s batch name — denoting the mountains and sun to show the group’s shining hope and ever-upward journey.

Meanwhile, the batch officers exhibited a democratic relationship with their department in determining their batch name. They accepted suggestions and administered a voting procedure via Google form, wherein everyone from the batch was encouraged to submit.

Among the 12 suggestions, the officers revealed the top 3 names and their corresponding breakdowns. Excelsior clinched the highest tally garnering 58 votes (28.9%); Hiraya sealed 57 votes (28.4%); and Exismus gained 42 votes (20.9%).

In general, 201 BSA graduating students cast their votes during the voting process from December 20 until December 22.
