The Department of Management launched its first inaugurated symposium during the Entrepreneurial Management Summit 2024 with the theme: “Sustainovation: Empowering Youth Entrepreneurship for a Sustainable and Innovative Future” on October 25 at the Peter G. Nepomuceno (PGN) Auditorium.
In line with its objective to emphasize the importance of integrating sustainability and innovation into entrepreneurial strategies, the symposium invited well-known personalities and industry professionals including Sen. Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian, Mr. Armando “Butz” Bartolome, Ms. Samira Gutoc, Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero, Prof. Vicente Pijano III, and Ms. Mary Michelle Quiambao.
The event also recognized the presentation of Overall Top 3 products where Texcrete (FMHR-331) bagged first place, Solar-Powered Cooler (BM-321) spotted second place, and Budget Besties 2.0 (BM-331) landed third place.
Meanwhile, Beary Awake (MK-331) received the People’s Choice award.
Alongside the subject course professors, current third-year students of Entrepreneurial Management organized the three-month long activity which consisted of bootcamp webinar sessions, product presentations, and product exhibition.
In an interview with the event’s overall head Gino Torres, he expressed his gratitude towards the people he worked with, as well as the event’s success.
“…I am very honored to head this Sustainovation because 3rd year management has a lot of great and responsible leaders. They just need empowerment and proper guidance. I am very happy that everything went well as how we planned it.”
Torres also shared the objective of the summit and its importance for the participants, stating that it served as “a platform to highlight the whole semester’s learning on innovation and sustainability”.
“This Sustainovation is a commitment to all of us that we will continue to integrate sustainability and innovation into the core of our future business practices and decision-making,” he said.
“As we progress, I hope we continue to cultivate a mindset that prioritizes long-term impact over short-term gains. With this, we can create a community that is not only economically viable but also socially responsible and environmentally sustainable,” the third-year Legal Management student concluded.
This year, FRENTREPMAN faculty members—Dr. Maria Lutgarda Punay, Prof. John Eric Herrera, Dr. Amelynn Corpuz, and Dr. Markrinello Sarical—selected innovation and sustainability as key areas due to their relevance in today’s business landscape.
The Entrepreneurial Management Summit is a newly introduced academic initiative to third-year FRENTREPMAN students of Academic Year 2024-2025 in line with the subject course’s objectives, marking its first commencement in the academe.
